Disney has shared a brand-new video featuring some of the groundbreaking new audio-animatronics coming to theme parks in 2024.
In the first episode of Disney’s new We Call It Imagineering YouTube series, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Matthew Nelson, Associate Technical Director of Live Entertainment, introduced some of the new audio-animatronics for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Disney shared a bite-sized teaser of the new animatronics on Instagram, as well as the story behind the tiny bird that originally inspired Walt Disney to push the boundaries of engineering.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Audio-Animatronics
The new animatronics teased include Mama Odie, Ralphie, Louis, and Tiana. Imagineers explained that a huge team of designers and mechanics are responsible for every tiny detail on these animatronics – from choreographing their exact moves to ensuring wires are in a perfect position.
Undoubtedly, the star of the attraction will be Louis, the trumpet-playing alligator. The YouTube video shows Louis minus his alligator scales for a fascinating (but, quite frankly, terrifying) look at the machinery that runs this loveable character.
Jessica Basgerow, Show Programmer, explained that by running Louis at 75% speed during testing, Imagineers can ensure his joyful belly (a key characteristic) integrates with the rest of his movement.
