Wondering how to get from Orlando Airport to Walt Disney World? Transferring from MCO is relatively straightforward and takes approximately 30 minutes.
Since Disney’s complimentary Magical Express service stopped operating in 2022, guests have pretty much been left to fend for themselves. That’s why we’ve written this handy guide to Disney World airport transfers to take the stress out of your visit.
Disney World Airport Transfer Options
Ride Share Apps
One of the most popular ways to travel between Disney World and MCO is by using ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft. Simply download the app on your phone, input your hotel, and you’ll be able to see how much the ride will cost before you call a car.
The price can range between $30 and $50 depending on demand and time of day, which can be pretty reasonable if travelling with a group of friends. Unlike some of the other transfer options, this is also ideal if you’re not staying in a Disney hotel as it can take you to the front door.
Pick up is available from the following locations:
- Terminal A: Level 2 and on Level 3 between 9:00pm and 2:00am.
- Terminal B: Level 2 and on Level 3 between 9:00pm and 2:00am.
- Terminal C: Level 6
Minnie Vans
Another popular ride-sharing option is the Minnie Vans. This is an official Disney service available on Lyft with cars driven by cast members.
Again, you can call these cars on the app and see how much you will be charged before you confirm. When choosing your destination on the Lyft app, make sure you select the Minnie Van option.
This option is ideal for families as you can choose between a regular car and an accessible van (handy for those travelling with strollers or wheelchairs.) Minnie Vans will also offer up to two complimentary child seats if needed.
Mears Connect Shuttle Bus
As we mentioned, a complimentary shuttle service was previously offered to those staying on property at Disney World. While this is no longer available, the company that ran this, Mears, still offers a paid service.
Below are the current prices for the Standard service, which will stop at numerous hotels at Disney World.
Mears Connect Shuttle Bus also offers an Express service that transfers guests directly to their hotel with no wait time. Prices are steep, but it can save you plenty of time and hassle on your trip.
Once you land at MCO, head to the Mears Welcome Center on Level 1 in either Terminal B or C. Once there, staff will scan your QR code and assign you to a relevant shuttle bus. Walk-ons are welcomed by Mears, but we recommend you book in advance to avoid delays in peak seasons.
This service is also available for a select number of non-Disney hotels – you can check which hotels are serviced by Mears here.
Private Taxi
If you don’t want to wait around for a shuttle, there are plenty of taxis available at MCO. A private taxi to Walt Disney World costs around $70 (plus tip) each way, which can work out cheaper than a shuttle if you’re travelling with a group of friends.
The taxis at Orlando Airport are metered and regulated by the City of Orlando’s Vehicle-for-Hire ordinance. You can hail a cab at the following locations:
- Terminal A: Ground Transportation Curb (Level 1) in spaces A22-A25
- Terminal B: Ground Transportation Curb (Level 1) in spaces B30-B34
- Terminal C: Arrivals Curb (Level 6)
Car Rental
Renting a car is one of the most expensive ways to travel between Orlando Airport and Disney World, especially if you’re going to keep the vehicle throughout your trip. Disney’s transportation system is very efficient, so this is unnecessary, but it can be a good option if you want to take day trips to other Florida destinations.
Orlando Airport’s website has a list of all the car rental companies available. Prices vary depending on season and length of rental but, generally, this will set you back anywhere from $250 for a seven-day trip.
Orlando Airport Transportation: Which is Best?
The best Disney World transfer option depends on the number of people in your group and whether you're visiting with kids. You also need to factor in the cost of a return transfer back to MCO.
If you're travelling as a couple or group of three, taking the Mears shuttle is often the cheapest and easiest way to get to Disney World. However, if you're visiting Disney World as a larger group or with kids, it can be easier to rent a call an Uber or Minnie Van to take you straight to your hotel.
