There are fewer things in this life we love more than a slow tour down the Rivers of America aboard The Liberty Square Riverboat, an authentic steam-powered sternwheeler. Conveniently located just across from the Hall of Presidents and to the left of the Haunted Mansion, this 20-minute excursion offers rare and stunning views of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Haunted Mansion. In our opinion, it is one of the best ways to catch a break in the middle of a hot summer day at the Magic Kingdom.

Alas, if you were planning to partake in a lap around the Rivers between Monday, August 24th and Sunday, August 30th, The Liberty Square Riverboat at Magic Kingdom will be closing for annual refurbishment.

As you may recall, The Liberty Square Riverboat previously closed for quite a few months for a major refurb in 2018. It closes for regular annual refurb once every year. While this may be a bit of an obstruction to one's own vacationing plans, we must remember that maintenance is a good thing. After all, it keeps guests safe and helps uphold the integrity of Walt Disney World attractions. Similar to Walt Disney World bag checks. Sure, it would be nice just to zip on into the parks, but… I’m glad they’re there.

The Liberty Square Riverboat will reopen for guests on Monday, August 31st.
