A large spike in the UK variant of the coronavirus will cause Osaka Prefecture and two neighbouring areas to proclaim a State of Emergency. According to a press release from Universal Studios Japan, this will force Universal Studios Japan to close on April 25th.

Universal Studios Japan is the first Universal Parks & Resorts property to re-close due to COVID-19 and the only Universal property closed worldwide.

No reopening date has been announced at this time.
