Major changes have been announced for Disney’s Genie+ system. From 24th July 2024, Genie+ will be replaced by two new passes: the Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Genie+) and the Lightning Lane Single Pass.
These passes allow guests to skip the regular queue entry for the majority of attractions at Walt Disney World. The most important change is that Walt Disney World guests will now be able to make Lightning Lane reservations in advance.
As with the old system, these passes will still use flex pricing based on how busy the parks are, and all selections can be made via the My Disney Experience App.
Here’s what you need to know about the new system…
Genie+ Rebranded at Walt Disney World
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows Walt Disney World guests to book up to three Lightning Lanes before arriving. Resort guests can book seven days before arrival, while all other guests can book three days prior.
On the day of the park visit, guests can book an additional Lightning Lane once the first pass has been used. Guests can hold three Lightning Lane Multi Passes at a time.
If Park Hopping, guests must book their first three Lightning Lanes in a single park, and can then book a pass for a different park once they have used their first.
The Lightning Lane Single Pass, which is currently in use at Walt Disney World, will not change much. The only difference is that guests will be able to purchase these in advance.
Disneyland Resort
The Disneyland Resort will also use the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass names from 24th July. However, this is simply a name change, and how guests purchase and use Lightning Lanes will not change.
This new system will – hopefully – iron out some of the issues that have been reported with the Genie+ system in recent months. Check back with Themepark+ for the latest Disney news and updates.
