When Universal’s Epic Universe theme park opens in 2025, it will bring with it four themed lands and a whole host of thrilling rides.
Universal Orlando dropped its latest teaser earlier this year, and many of the rides at this new theme park were confirmed. From family-friendly carousels to ultra-spooky attractions and heart-stopping roller coasters, Epic Universe is set to catapult Universal Orlando into a week-long vacation resort all on its own.
Read on to discover what we know so far – confirmed and rumored – about the rides coming to Epic Universe in 2025.
Celestial Park
When you enter Epic Universe, you'll be thrust into the beautiful Celestial Park. This leafy area will be the main hub and, as well as having its own rides, will feature four portals that take you to themed lands.
Starfall Racers
Starfall Racers is the Epic Universe ride we know the most about so far. This thrilling roller coaster will feature two dueling tracks and an epic soundtrack.
With a height of 133ft and speeds of up to 62mph, it falls just short of Universal Studios’ VelociCoaster, but promises thrills in the form of an inverted criss-cross track, dubbed by Universal as a “celestial spin.”
Another detail unique to Starfall Racers is that the ride will not feature external track lighting. This means that the comet-shaped ride vehicles will appear to shoot across the sky at night.
Constellation Carousel
Constellation Carousel is the other main ride in the Celestial Park area of Epic Universe.
But this is not your standard carousel – instead of horses and carriages, this will feature mystical creatures like lions, dragons, and peacocks. And that’s not all, as each creature will rotate 360 degrees as they spin around the carousel.
Astronomica
Less of a ride and more of an attraction, Astronomica will be a wet-play area for younger guests. Designed to look like a compass rose, this splash pad will be at the center of Celestial Park.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
This is one of the areas we know the least about at the moment. There seems to be only one ride in this land, but it’s believed that Le Cirque Arcanus will be the name of a stage show based on a magical circus featured in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry
Universal has confirmed an indoor Wizarding World ride that is guaranteed to blow our minds.
This will likely be a tracked dark ride based on the British Ministry of Magic. The name of the ride has not been confirmed but "Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry" is very possible due to patents acquired by Universal.
Super Nintendo World
After opening in the Japan and Hollywood parks, Super Nintendo World is one of the most highly-anticipated lands at Epic Universe. Guests can explore the colorful world of Super Mario and Donkey Kong, with three rides expected in this land.
Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge
We already know what to expect with Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, as the ride opened at Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Japan in 2021 and at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023.
This will be an augmented-reality dark ride where you can live out your wildest Mario Kart dreams. Don your Super Mario cap, which doubles as an AR headset, and get ready to race your way around a Mario Kart track. The AR technology allows you to pick up a variety of power-ups throughout the ride.
Yoshi's Adventure
Much like Yoshi’s Adventure in USJ, this is an omnimover ride where guests board their very own colorful Yoshi and take a slow-moving journey around the land.
The official story behind this ride is that Captain Toad loses his map and riders must find three colored eggs before hunting out the grand prize, an elusive golden egg. But we think it’s a great excuse to sit down and take in the sight of the beautiful Mushroom Kingdom.
This ride is suitable for families with young children – the height requirement is 122cm (around 4ft) or 92cm (3ft) if riding with an adult.
Donkey Kong: Mine Cart Madness
Another Epic Universe ride that has been confirmed is Donkey Kong: Mine Cart Madness. This roller coaster-style ride will open in USJ in 2024 and Epic Universe in 2025.
Universal has patented a new type of technology for this ride, called a Boom Coaster. While regular roller coasters run over the top of a track, this Donkey Kong coaster will instead run along a hidden side track, allowing the ride to jump over broken pieces of track and obstacles.
How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk
The How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk land will be fun for all the family and feature Vikings and dragons. There will be three rides in this area and, while Universal has not confirmed anything officially, construction on all three rides has been spotted (and, excitingly, captured on video.)
Roller Coaster
A steel-launched roller coaster will be the main attraction. While we don't know much else about this ride yet, we have seen some rather funny-looking sheep being installed around the coaster track.
Dragon Boat Ride
So far, the name of the dragon boat ride is being kept under wraps. Though, as you can see in the photo above, progress is being made in its construction. It’s rumored that this family boat ride will be interactive, with water cannons in the ride vehicle.
It is likely that Mack Rides, who have been confirmed as the team behind Starfall Racers, will be behind this boat ride, too. The company has created near-identical interactive boat rides in parks around the world – including the one in PortAventure, featured in the video below.
Sky Flyers Ride
A duo-spinning ride, believed to be called Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, has also been spotted in this park section. Guests will be perched in winged seats on the end of each long pole, while a red and blue dragon on either end will soar through the sky.
You can view the early testing of this ride below.
There is also going to be a theatre space in this land – fingers crossed we get to see Toothless on the big stage.
Dark Universe
There are three new rides semi-confirmed for the Dark Universe land in Epic Universe.
Dark Ride
Eagle-eyed theme park fans have spotted that the main attraction will be similar to the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride at the Islands of Adventure park, though this one will likely be set inside Frankenstein’s manor.
Universal filed a new trademark last year for “Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment,” which is very likely going to be the name of this ride.
The Harry Potter ride uses KUKA robocoaster technology – which essentially means that the seats can pivot in a near-360-degree motion. Guests are secured using over-the-shoulder restraints and must be at least 120cm (around 3ft10) to ride.
Curse of the Werewolf
Much of Dark Universe will be aimed at adults, and the Curse of the Werewolf ride will be an equally thrilling spinning coaster ride with multiple launches.
Details on this ride are yet to be released, though you can view the coaster in action below via footage taken during ride testing in early 2024.
Unnamed Boat Ride
Universal is keeping far quieter about the third ride in the Dark Universe land. It’s believed that this will be a spooky boat ride themed to Creature from the Black Lagoon, though nothing has been confirmed.
