Some heavily substantiated rumours are flying around about the future of Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade. It’s expected that this Magic Kingdom opening-day attraction will close and be replaced by a brand-new Disney Vacation Club lounge.

Walt Disney World had already announced that a new members-only lounge would be built in 2024 but, until now, the location had been kept under wraps. While this isn’t 100% confirmed, multiple reliable sources are reporting that this will be in Frontierland.

The Downfall of Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade

While we’re sad about this new development, we can’t say we’re surprised. The operating hours for Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade were reduced in 2021 and the attraction removed its pay-to-play system (guests previously had to pay $1 for 35 shots.)

The arcade game opened with Magic Kingdom in 1971 and requires park-goers to aim and shoot at 97 targets in a Western-style shootout. Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris all feature similar attractions.

The new DVC lounge would provide a space for members to relax amidst the buzz of Magic Kingdom. This comes as part of a Frontierland overhaul, with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opening alongside a reimagined Country Bear Jamboree.

We expect Disney to confirm this rumour over the next couple of weeks, so check back with Themepark+ for the latest updates.
