New details have been released about Epic Universe’s Super Nintendo World. While this land already exists at Universal Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan, we’ve learned some new and exciting information specific to Orlando.
Universal has already shared details about Celestial Park and Isle of Berk, so we just have The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic and Dark Universe to go before we (presumably) get an opening date for Epic Universe.
Super Nintendo World Attractions
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge
The standout attraction in Super Nintendo World is Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. Much like in Universal Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan, guests will don a Super Mario hat – an AR headset – that enhances the physical environment.
The Mario Kart video game is brought to life with riders collecting coins, throwing shells, and dodging plenty of obstacles along the way. Guests can play as their favourite characters and join together to help Team Mario win the race.
Yoshi’s Adventure
Yoshi’s Adventure is a gentle attraction, identical to the one in USJ. This ride will invite guests to board their very own Yoshi before heading on a journey through the Mushroom Kingdom in search of glowing eggs.
Mine-Cart Madness
Donkey Kong Country will be home to Mine-Cart Madness, a mine cart-style roller coaster that sends guests on a thrilling adventure with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong.
This coaster is being widely praised for its innovative new ride system that allows each cart to “jump” over the track, performing manoeuvres featured in the Donkey Kong video game.
Super Nintendo World Dining and Merchandise Locations
In Super Mario Land, Toadstool Cafe will be the ultimate dining spot. Much like the Universal Hollywood version, the restaurant will serve a variety of Mario and Luigi-themed dishes such as burgers, soup, pasta, and an array of desserts. Guests can also spy several Toads cooking up the dishes through virtual windows around the restaurant.
Yoshi’s Snack Island and Turbo Boost Treats will offer fun snacks and themed drinks in Super Mario Land, while Donkey Kong Country will be home to a couple of locations (yet to be revealed by Universal) where guests can purchase tropical treats in the heart of the jungle.
A variety of Nintendo merchandise will be available at the 1-UP Factory and Mario Motors. More excitingly, these spots will sell Power-Up Bands so that guests can collect digital coins by getting involved in activities around the park. Leaderboard screens will be found in multiple locations inside Super Nintendo World so that guests can check out their ranking for the day.
Additionally, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad will pop up throughout the day for various meet and greets in Super Nintendo World. As of yet, no meet and greet with Donkey Kong has been announced.
Alongside these new details, Universal released a video with plenty of fly-through footage and teaser ride clips. Watch the full announcement below…
