So long, Space Ranger! Ahead of its permanent closure, Tokyo Disneyland has announced a special Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters event called Complete the Mission!

The ride will close on 31st October 2024 to make way for a Wreck-It Ralph attraction based on the candy-themed game “Sugar Rush.” This will reportedly open in 2026.

There will be two stages to the closing event – a special overlay followed by a period of exclusive merchandise.

An overlay titled Astro Hero Time! will run on the attraction from 2nd July to 18th September. This makes it even easier than ever to reach a high score (you might even be able to earn the highly-coveted Galactic hero title).

Following this, until 31st October, Tomorrowland will offer exclusive merchandise and popcorn box designs to commemorate the attraction. Plus, Cast Members near Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters will be giving out unique stickers to guests throughout the event.

A similar event, Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition!, is currently underway before Space Mountain closes for a major renovation. This is part of a large Tomorrowland overhaul at Tokyo Disneyland.
