The Oriental Land Company, which owns the Japanese Disney parks, has confirmed that a decision has been made to bring Disney Cruise Line to Japan from 2028.

In a press release, the company said: “Based on the license agreement concluded with the Disney Company, constructions for shipbuilding will commence from Japanese fiscal year 2025, with the objective to become operational from Japanese fiscal year 2028.”

The OLC is projected to spend approximately 330 billion yen on this project. MEYER WERFT, the company responsible for building the Disney Destiny, has been commissioned to craft the same style of cruise ship.

Disney Cruise Line Japan Routes

While routes will be finalised in the upcoming months and years, the OLC has revealed that they expect this ship to sail mainly short distances departing from and arriving at ports around Tokyo. The ship's capacity will be around 4000 people, with approximately 1,250 guest rooms on board.

However, this isn’t the first time the Disney Cruise Line has expanded into Asian waters. The Disney Adventure, Disney’s most impressive ship yet, is set to sail from Singapore for the first time in 2025.
