Disneyland has shared some details about six new restaurants coming to Downtown Disney later this year. This announcement comes at the tail end of a major Downtown Disney reimagination, with multiple restaurant openings and the closure of the AMC Theater.

It has also been confirmed that Tortilla Jo’s will be leaving the dining hotspot after 20 years. But, don’t worry, you won’t need to look far to find your new taco fix…

A Chef Carlos Gaytán Trio

The most exciting foodie offering to head to Downtown Disney is a trio of restaurants by Chef Carlos Gaytán. As Mexico’s first Michelin-starred chef, he will be bringing his authentic cuisine to the Disneyland Resort with three fun concepts: Paseo, Céntrico, and Tiendita.

Of the three, Paseo will be the showstopper. The spacious dining room and bar will be filled with custom accents that celebrate Mexico’s craftsmanship. Plus, the restaurant will boast incredible views of Downtown Disney from its upper patio.

Food will blend Chef Gaytán's homeland with French culinary techniques. The menu will feature ceviches, Mama’s cochinita pibil (roasted marinated pork), lamb barbacoa, and mejillones (mussels).

Looking for a party? Head to Céntrico, a courtyard bar and restaurant. This vibrant joint will serve tasty Mexican plates and tequila-based cocktails. Dishes will range from quesabirrias and chicken enchiladas to tlayuda (a shareable Oaxacan dish.)

For a quick fix, Tiendita will serve street food staples for on-the-go. This spot will feature a self-ordering kiosk, offering the likes of esquites (roasted corn), fish tacos, ice cream-stuffed chocolate tacos, and breakfast items like chorizo breakfast burritos and chilaquiles (marinated tortilla chips with egg.)

Another couple of restaurants have also been teased. The first is Din Tai Fung, a popular dim sum restaurant from Taiwan. Famous for its signature Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and robot waiters, this spot is a much-needed Asian cuisine addition to Downtown Disney.

Additionally, two new concept restaurants will open at Downtown Disney in the later half of 2024. These are a steakhouse restaurant and barbecue eatery, located on the footprint of Tortilla Jo’s.

Marceline’s Confectionery will also undergo a sweet makeover. Disney has teased that an “all-new, expanded and completely reimagined confection experience,” is on its way, and shared that Marceline’s Confectionery will open up a cart location in the meantime.
