Disney Adulting Rating

  • 1 Mickey Bar: Toto, I don’t think we’re in our twenties anymore.
  • 2 Mickey Bars: Was Florida always this hot?
  • 3 Mickey Bars: No, seriously… where’s the shade?
  • 4 Mickey Bars: Honey, have you seen my DVC pill holder keychain?
  • 5 Mickey Bars: I liked it better when Mickey was in Black and white.

So, grab your fanny pack, slap on that SPF 50, and consult with your doctor before you proceed. Because it is time to do some Disney Adulting!

Go Drink Around the World

Gosh, if you are a foodie who has a taste for the sauce, this is the experience for you!

Now, if you’re thinking Drinking Around the World is only reserved for spring breakers with fake IDs and/or the most obnoxious of theme park fans… think again! Drinking Around the World can be a cultural experience when handled responsibly.

What Is Drinking Around The World?

“Drinking Around The World” is the process of making your way around the World Showcase while stopping for drinks (and snacks) in each country, including Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, the United States, Italy, Germany, China, Norway and Mexico. It may sound like a breeze for you weekend warriors out there, but it can present quite a challenge, especially throughout the Food & Wine Festival, when Epcot adds a plethora of kiosks that serve additional drinks.

Tips & Tricks

  • While this pastime may draw an evening crowd, we urge you to make a full day of it.
  • Save Future World for another day.
  • Make an EPCOT World Showcase “Drinking Around The World” Passport and check off each pavilion’s libations.
  • Sharing is caring, friends! If you’re a lightweight or simply want to sample as many drinks as possible, splitting each selection with a buddy may help.

Takeaway

My wife and I love World Showcase and though we will not be entering any beer pong championships anytime soon, we love to sample the “local fare” that can be found within the resort’s provincial watering holes. There is just something to roaming about the pavilions with a libation in hand. Lately, a new tradition for us is bringing Drinking Around The World home with us!

  1. We make note of our favourite drinks while sampling in World Showcase
  2. Locate as many of these favourites within our local liquor store
  3. Keeping in true World Showcase fashion we then pour a drop or two into the smallest Dixie disposable cup imaginable.
  4. Throw on the Illuminations or EPCOT Forever Soundtrack and enjoy!

This allows us to keep a little Disney magic in our lives between trips!

Book Yourself A Self-Indulgent Spa Day

I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t even know this was a thing… which in retrospect is kind of silly, being as the word “spa” is in the title of two of Walt Disney World’s most prominent resorts! I guess when you’re hopped up on Cinnamon Rolls from Gaston’s Tavern, it's easy to blow past the calming scents of essential oils emitting from Senses – A Disney Spa.

What Is Senses?

Senses is a Disney spa that boasts a bevvy of revitalizing techniques and therapies designed to have you looking and feeling your best. Located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and/or Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Space, both locations offer a plethora of treatments and services, including facials, massages, pedicures, body wraps, aromatherapy, and much more.

Tips & Tricks

  • Keep an eye out for discounts, as these spa days come at a premium.
  • Do not plan this for the day after Drinking Around The World…
  • Make a day of it! No, really… Spa amenities are complimentary for those receiving spa treatments. So, book some extra time pre-and-post treatment.

Takeaway

In my experience, the spa was immaculate, the staff was superb, and the amenities were out of this world. This was the perfect addition to our stay, especially when scheduled smack-dab in the middle of our trip.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not sure if I would have indulged in such a luxury if Disney Vacation Club hadn’t offered such a steep discount at the time. That being said, what’s done is done and now, discount or not, we…are… hooked! There is no better way to relax and recharge for another day at the parks!

Take a Guided Tour

If you’ve ever uttered the words “I wonder how they do that” whilst on Walt Disney World Resort property – you need to take the Backstage Magic Tour!

What is Backstage Magic?

Backstage Magic is a 7-hour behind-the-scenes tour of Walt Disney World Resort presented by Adventures by Disney where guests are granted a sneak peek at the wizardry that goes into bringing the magic to life! Tour participants are offered an up-close look into the artistry, technology, mechanical marvels and trade secrets that go into producing world-class entertainment. Walk Disney World Resort tour guides provide a plethora of knowledge, little-known facts and insider insights. In addition, you will receive your own special commemorative gift!

Tips & Tricks

  • Book early, as these tours fill up quickly.
  • We would suggest that you’ve taken at least one or two trips to Walt Disney World before you take this tour. After all, you wouldn’t watch a “Making of…” before you watched the movie.
  • As An American Adventure is a major part of this tour, we suggest you catch a showing prior to taking this tour. It will serve as a refresher course and refamiliarize you with the attraction.

Take Away

It is personally hard for me to accept that any Walt Disney World fan wouldn’t jump at this awe-inspiring opportunity! Then again, I also feel that One Man’s Dream should be at the entrance of every Disney theme park. So, I’m a lot.

All in all, you will never look at Walt Disney World Resort the same… and that is a good thing! A backstage tour doesn’t take away the magic. It simply shows you how much more magic you’ve been missing, hiding in plain sight!
